RETIREE SERVICE CENTERS -- NARFE'S CROWN JEWELS

Service Centers are staffed by NARFE members who are volunteers. They are very well informed and ready to assist with all NARFE service problems, from filing for a survivor annuity to government insurance claim to assisting with health insurance and much more. Service centers, however, do not deal with tax or legal situations. Centers are complete with accurate data, through contact with the Office of Personnel Management(OPM) as well as our very capable headquarters Retirement Benefits Services Department in the national office.
There is a Service Officer in almost every chapter. Service centers help and support non-NARFE members and members who do not know about chapter service officer assistance.
Service Center #120 here in DeLand opened in June of 1993. The Service Center is available once a month (the third Wednesday) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Woodland Towers, 113 Chipola Ave., DeLand.

Important Document File

It is to each annuitant's advantage to maintain a file of important basic documents.
The file should include:

the CSA or CSF number assigned by OPM and related retirement papers, wills, marriage certificates, birth and death certificates of immediate family members, insurance policies and health plan enrollment papers.
The latter are especially important when a member is hospitalized and unable to furnish information to medical authorities.
Members should also review the file at least once a year or when any changes take place.

Note: All family members should be told where the file is kept.
