SERVICE CENTER INFORMATION.
A Service Center is a volunteer staff of members who are well informed and ready to assist with all NARFE service problems, from filing for a survivor annuity to government insurance claims to tracing lost checks and much, much more.
Centers, of which we are one of only 6 in the State of Florida, are complete with accurate data, through contact with OPM as well as the Retirement Benefits Services Department of NARFE in Alexandria, VA.
Service Center #120 in DeLand was created in 1994.
What does a Service Officer do? The primary services include:
Filing death claims with OPM
Filing for Federal Employees Group Life Insurance
Non-receipt of a check
Change of address
Tax withholding
Direct deposit
Change of beneficiary for FEGLI
Stopping Annuitants check
Keep members updated on changes in benefits that are available
Notify NARFE Headquarters to report a change of address, report the death of a member
Speak at Chapter meetings
Assistance is given in regard to all NARFE service situations as listed above, except tax and legal questions.
In this way we have been able to reach out to the community and offer a valuable service to members and non-members who do not know about Chapter Service Officer assistance. This is done in a very professional and confidential manner and is free of charge.
SUNSHINE SERVICES
As part of our chapter social networking, members can notify our Sunshine Officer of significant life events that will be passed on to the chapter members. Tell us of significant anniversaries, hospitalizations, deaths, births, accomplishments, etc.
For assistance with any of the above services, please contact our Sunshine Services Officer:
